The relentless Mrs. Efua Ghartey has been elected as the 28th President of the Ghana Bar Association. Mrs. Ghartey polled 1,270 votes out of the 2597 potential voters. Her figure of 1,270 represents 54.24%. Her contender, the affable Agbesi Dzakpasu polled 1,060 votes representing 44.95% of the votes as declared by the Elections Committee of the Ghana Bar Association.
The victory of Mrs. Ghartey makes her a pacesetter and a breaker of the glass ceiling for female lawyers in the leadership of one of Ghana’s most noble associations, the Ghana Bar Association.
Barth is elected Vice
Mrs. Barth was predictably elected as the Vice-President and now shall be the second female Vice President of the Ghana Bar Association. She polled 68. 87% of the votes with her contender, the former Western Region Bar President, Ebenezer Kwaitoo polling 20.99%. All other positions were not opened to voting as candidates run unopposed.
