ARMED FORCES (AMENDMENT) (NO. 4) REGULATIONS, 1975 (LI 1037).  

 

IN exercise of the powers conferred on the Commander-in-Chief by section 97 of the Armed Forces Act, 1962 (Act 105), and after consultation with the Armed Forces Council, these Regulations are made this 13th day of August, 1975.

Section 1—Article 3.01 of C.I. 12/1970 Amended.

The Armed Forces Regulations, 1970 (C.I. 12) as amended are hereby further amended in Article 3.01 as follows—

(a) by the substitution for the heading of that Article of the following:—

“3.01—RANKS OF OFFICERS AND MEN—ARMY AND BORDER GUARD”;

(b) by the substitution for Article 3.01 (1) of the following:—

“(1) The ranks of officers shall be—

Army  Border Guard

(a) Field-Marshal                         (a) Field-Marshal (BG)

(b) General                                  (b) General (BG)

(c) Lieutenant-General                (c) Lieutenant-General (BG)

(d) Major-General                        (d) Major-General (BG)

(e) Brigadier                                (e) Brigadier (BG)

(f) Colonel                                  (f) Colonel (BG)

(g) Lieutenant-Colonel                (g) Lieutenant-Colonel (BG)

(h) Major                                    (h) Major (BG)

(i) Captain                                  (i) Captain (BG)

(j) Lieutenant                             (j) Lieutenant (BG)

(k) 2nd Lieutenant                      (k) 2nd Lieutenant (BG)

(1) Officer Cadet                        (1) Officer Cadet (BG) ";

(c) by the substitution for Article 3.01 (2) (f) of the following:—

"(f) Private, trooper, gunner, sapper, signalman, rifleman, Craftsman, Guardsman and Guardswoman";

(d) by the substitution for Article 3.01 (4) (a) of the following:—

“(a) Trained soldier, trained guards; and”;

(e) by the insertion immediately after Article 3.01 (5) of the following:—

“(6) Guardsmen and guardswomen shall be further classified as—

(a) Guardsmen/women class I;

(b) Guardsmen/women class II; and

(c) Guardsmen/women class III”.

 

Section 2—Article 3.10 of C.I. 12/1970 Amended.

 

The Armed Forces Regulations, 1970 (C.I. 12) as amended are hereby further amended in Article 3.10 as follows:—

(a) by the substitution, for Article 3.10 (1) (other than the Table thereto) of the following:—

 

“(1) The relative ranks of officers and men within  the Armed Forces shall be as prescribed in the Table to this Article:

Provided that officers of the Border Guards shall have the Army ranks specified in the Table followed by the suffix (BG)";

 

(b) by the insertion immediately after the last item appearing in column 1 of the Table to Article 3.10 (1) of the following:—

"Guardsman/Guardswoman."
