CUSTOMS (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983 (LI 1278).

 

IN exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary responsible for Finance by section 270 of the Customs and Excise Decree, 1972 (N.R.C.D. 114), these Regulations are made this 21st day of June, 1983.

Regulation 1—L.I. 1060 Amended.

The Customs Regulations, 1976 (L.I. 1060) are hereby amended as follows:

(a) by the substitution for sub-regulation (1) of regulation 9 thereof of the following:

“9. Overtime Fees.

(1) Persons who require the services of officers for any of the purposes of the Decree at times or on days other than or in excess of those herein after appointed for general attendance shall pay overtime at the rate of twenty-five cedis an hour or part thereof per every officer.”;

(b) by the substitution for the figure “¢2.00” appearing in regulation 12 (a) thereof of the figure “¢25.00”;

(c) by the substitution for the figure “¢0.20” wherever it appears in the second column of sub-regulation (2) of regulation 13 thereof of the figure “¢20.00”;

(d) by the substitution for sub-regulation (2) of regulation 102 thereof of the following sub-regulation:

“(2) There shall be paid in respect of all such goods, not being goods the property of the Government of the territory to which they are consigned, a fee of ten cedis the package or a hundred cedis the tonne, whichever is the greater, to cover administrative expenses incurred in connection therewith”;

(e) by the substitution for the words “one cedi” appearing in regulation 136 (a) thereof of the words “twelve cedis”;

(f)  by the substitution for the figure “30p” appearing in regulation 136 (c) thereof of the words “six cedis”;

(g) by the substitution for the figure “10p” appearing in regulation 136 (d) thereof of the words “one cedi”; and

(h) by the substitution for sub-regulation (2) (a) of regulation 142 thereof of the following:

“The owner of the small craft (non-fishing) shall pay a licence fee of five hundred cedis, and shall, if so required, enter into a bond in the Form CB.13 or CB.16 in such amount as the Comptroller may determine.”

Regulations 2—Commencement.

These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into force on the 21st day of April, 1983.
