IN exercise of the powers
conferred on the Board of the
Electricity Corporation of Ghana
by section 20 of the Electricity
Corporation of Ghana Decree, 1967
(N.L.C.D. 125) these Regulations
are hereby made this 15th day of
April, 1975.
Regulation 1—Consumers to Pay
Power Tariffs.
The consumers specified in the
Schedule to these Regulations
shall be liable to pay to the
Corporation the power tariffs
specified in the said Schedule for
the supply of energy at any place
in Ghana.
Regulation 2—Off-peak Period Power
Tariffs.
Any consumer who is prepared to
consume energy during the off-peak
period and not to consume energy
during the peak period shall pay
to the Corporation the off peak
power tariffs as agreed with the
Corporation.
Regulation 3—Stand-by Power
Tariffs.
Any consumer who owns a generating
plant, which produces energy
independently of the Corporation,
and who uses the energy of the
Corporation only in cases of
failure of his supply, shall be
liable to pay to the Corporation
the stand-by power tariffs as
agreed with the Corporation
Regulation 4—Interpretation.
In these Regulations—
“combined premises consumer” means
a consumer occupying premises
which, in the opinion of the
Corporation, are substantially
used for commercial purposes, but
a small part of which is used for
domestic purposes and where such
small part of the premises cannot
reasonably be wired and metered
separately;
“commercial consumer” means a
consumer occupying premises
substantially used for commercial,
business, professional, health,
educational, religious,
recreational or public purposes;
“consumer” means a person who is
supplied with energy by the
Corporation or whose premises are
for the time being connected for
the purposes of a supply of energy
by the Corporation;
“Corporation” means the
Electricity Corporation of Ghana;
“domestic consumer” means a
consumer who uses energy for
lighting, heating, cooking,
cooling or other domestic purposes
for the household;
“energy” means electrical energy
when generated, transmitted,
supplied or used for any purpose;
“high voltage metering” means a
supply metered at more than 650
volts;
“industrial consumer” means a
consumer engaged in an extractive
or manufacturing industry, and on
whose premises energy is used for
the most part for the purpose of a
mine, quarry pit, factory, works,
foundry, mill, refinery, pumping
plant, farm, ship-building or
repair, and or for motive power,
steam raising or for an
electro-chemical or
electro-thermal process;
“maximum demand” means four times
the greatest number of
Kilovolt-ampere hours supplied
during any fifteen consecutive
minutes during the account month
or in any of the months during the
year whichever is the greatest.
“Medium voltage" means a supply
metered at 650 volts or less.
Regulation 5—Revocation.
Ghana Government Electricity
Supplies Tariffs published in
Gazette Notice No. 258 in the
Ghana Extraordinary Gazette No.10
of Monday, 1st February, 1960 is
hereby revoked.
Regulation 6—Commencement.
These Regulations shall come into
force on the 1st day of August,
1975.
