WHEREAS by notice under the
provisions of Subsection (1) of
Section 5 of the Forests Ordinance
Cap. 157 and published in Gazette
No. 87 dated 29th October 1955,
the Governor stated his intention
of constituting as a Forest
Reserve the area of land the
situation and limits of which were
specified in the said notice and
by the same notice appointed
CHRISTOPHER HERBERT COOKE, ESQ.,
C.I.E. to be Reserve Settlement
Commissioner:
AND WHEREAS CHRISTOPHER HERBERT
COOKE, ESQ., C.I.E. was unable to
undertake the duties of Reserve
Settlement Commissioner, a further
notice under the provisions of
Subsection (2) of Section 5 of the
Forests Ordinance Cap. 157 was
published in Gazette No. 8 dated
23rd March, 1957 appointing PETER
MYLES RILEY, ESQ., hereinafter,
referred to as " the Reserve
Settlement Commissioner " to be
Reserve Settlement Commissioner:
AND WHEREAS in pursuance of the
duties imposed upon and powers
vested in him by Section 9 of the
Ordinance the Reserve Settlement
Commissioner proceeded to hold an
enquiry into the limits of the
aforesaid area of land and into
the existence, nature and extent
of rights affecting the land or
over the land which have been
claimed, alleged to exist, or
brought to his notice:
AND WHEREAS the Reserve Settlement
Commissioner has completed his
enquiry and has delivered his
judgment in accordance with
Section 15 of the Ordinance:
AND WHEREAS the Reserve Settlement
Commissioner in his said judgment
inter alia described the limits
set out in the first schedule
hereto, of an area of land for
reservation as a forest reserve:
Cap. 157.
NOW THEREFORE in exercise of the
powers conferred upon the
Governor-General by Section 17 of
the Forests Ordinance the
following order is hereby made:—
Order 1—Title.
This order may be cited as the
Forests (Bombi Forest Reserve)
Order, 1958.
Order 2—First Schedule.
The area of land the situation and
limits of which are specified in
the First schedule to this order
is hereby constituted a Forest
Reserve under the name of the
Bombi Forest Reserve.
FIRST SCHEDULE
DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA OF THE
BOMBI FOREST RESERVE
All that piece of land at Damongo
in the Gonja District of the
Northern Region of Ghana the
boundary whereof commencing at a
point at the confluence of Bombi
and Kechebu Streams which point is
193.0 feet on a bearing of 90
degrees 27 minutes—which bearing
together with all further bearings
hereinafter mentioned is referred
to the Meridian of 1 degree West
Longitude—from a pillar marked
GCG.NT.1/48/45 runs on a bearing
of 90 degrees 27 minutes for 850.0
feet to a pillar marked
GCG.NT.1/48/46 and thence on a
bearing of 90 degrees 26 minutes
for 2,237.5 feet to a pillar
marked GCG.NT.1/48/47 and thence
on a bearing of 90 degrees 27
minutes for 1,783.7 feet to a
pillar marked GCG.NT.1/48/48 and
thence on a bearing of 90 degrees
26 minutes for 735.1 feet to a
pillar marked GCG.NT.1/48/49 and
thence on a bearing of 90 degrees
27 minutes for 1,039.5 feet to a
pillar marked GCG.NT. 1/48/50 and
thence on a bearing of 180 degrees
27 minutes for 2,284.3 feet
passing through a pillar marked
GCG.NT.1/48/51 to a pillar marked
GCG.NT.1/48/52 and thence on a
bearing of 270 degrees 04 minutes
for 1,184.7 feet to a pillar
marked GCG.NT. 1/48/53 and thence
on a bearing of 270 degrees 23
minutes for 671.6 feet to a pillar
marked GCG.NT.1/48/54 and thence
on a bearing of 270 degrees 30
minutes for 1,342.4 feet to a
pillar marked GCG.NT. 1/48/55 and
thence on a bearing of 269 degrees
59 minutes for 992.2 feet to a
pillar marked GCG.NT.1/48/56 and
thence on a bearing of 270 degrees
28 minutes for 1,478.6 feet to a
pillar marked GCG.NT. 1/48/57 and
thence on a bearing of 270 degrees
19 minutes for 1,368.7 feet
passing through a pillar marked
GCG.NT.1/48/58 to the left bank of
the aforesaid Bombi Stream and
then follows the said left bank of
the Bombi Stream up stream in a
general northerly direction for an
approximate distance of 2,400 feet
to the point of commencement thus
enclosing an area of 363.832 acres
be the same several dimensions
little more or less.
