WHEREAS by notice published in
Gazette No. 27 of the 2nd day of
May, 1936, the then Governor gave
notice of his intention to
constitute a Forest Reserve under
the name of the Suhuma Forest
Reserve and appointed the Reserve
Settlement Commissioner therein
named for the purpose of
conducting the enquiry as to the
boundaries thereof and other
matters:
AND WHEREAS for divers reasons the
enquiry was concluded by
CHRISTOPHER HELBERT COOKE,
ESQUIRE, C.I.E. the Reserve
Settlement Commissioner appointed
for the purpose by the then
Governor by two several notices
published in Gazette No. 59 of the
18th day of June, 1955 and in
Gazette No. 75 of the 3rd day of
September, 1955 and the boundaries
and other matters have been
ascertained or determined:
AND WHEREAS the boundaries of the
Forest Reserve thereby determined
are co-extensive with and now more
particularly described in the
First Schedule to this Order but
subject to certain admitted rights
or concessions existing thereon or
thereover more particularly
described in the Second, Third,
Fourth and Fifth Schedules hereto:
Cap. 157.
Now THEREFORE in exercise of the
powers conferred upon the
Governor-General by section 17 of
the Forests Ordinance the
following Order is hereby made:—
Order 1—Title.
This Order may be cited as the
Suhuma Forest Reserve Order.
Order 2—Limits of, and Rights
Affecting Reserve.
The area of land the situation and
limits of which are specified in
the First Schedule to this Order
is hereby constituted a Forest
Reserve under the name of the
Suhuma Forest Reserve subject to
the rights set out in the Second,
Third, Fourth and Fifth Schedules
respectively.

THIRD SCHEDULE
COMMUNAL RIGHTS
The exercise of the rights shown
in column 1 is admitted in favour
of all subject of Sefwi Wiawso and
Wassaw Amenfi States on land lying
within the boundaries of those
States, subject to the extent
specified in column 2.

FIFTH SCHEDULE
STOOL RIGHTS
1. The Southern and South-Eastern
portion of the Reserve forms part
of Wassaw-Amenfi State and the
remainder of the Reserve forms
part of Sefwi-Wiawso State.
2. The Inter-State boundary runs
as follows:—
Commencing at the point where the
Pebru river joins its parent River
Tano about one mile to the West of
the Western boundary of the
Reserve; thence following the said
Pebru river upstream in a general
North Easterly direction for a
distance of two miles more or
less, until it is crossed by the
path from Mpumasi to Kwasi Kuma
camp on the Kwasi Kuma creek (both
unnamed but marked on Gold Coast
Survey sheet No. 78 of 1950, on.
scale 1: 62,500); thence following
the said path in a general North
Easterly direction for a distance
of 1˝ miles more or less to the
said Kwasi Kuma Camp and the said
creek; thence following the said
creek and its parent River Suhuma
down stream in a general Easterly
and South Easterly direction for a
distance of 3 miles more or less,
until the said river Suhuma
crosses the boundary of the
Aderi-Deni-Suku-Suku Concession
(C.V.487); thence following the
boundary of the said Concession in
a general North Easterly, North
Westerly, and Easterly direction
for a distance of 16 miles more or
less, until it reaches the River
Suraw about one mile outside the
Eastern boundary of the Reserve,
as shown marked red on the map
Exhibit "7".
3. All residual rights of
ownership in land within the
Reserve, together with the natural
products and minerals contained
therein, are vested in the
paramount Stools of Wassaw Amenfi
and Sefwi Wiawso in respect of the
areas included within those
States, subject to obligations to
comply with the provisions of any
Ordinance and directions given by
the Forestry Department for the
management of the Reserve in
accordance with the provisions of
section 18 of the Forests
Ordinance (Cap. 157).
