IN exercise of the powers
conferred on the P.N.D.C.
Secretary for Trade and Tourism by
section 22 of the Imports and
Exports Act, 1980 (Act 418) these
Regulations are made this 22nd day
of December, 1987.
Regulation 1—Non-Traditional
Export Goods.
Subject to regulation 2 of these
Regulations, the goods specified
in the Schedule to these
Regulations are hereby declared to
be goods comprised in the list of
non-traditional exports for the
purposes of the Imports and
Exports Act, 1980 (Act 418).
Regulation 2—Restriction of Export
of Yams.
(1) No person shall export yams in
commercial quantities unless:
(a) the minimum tonnage of yams
for shipment at any one time is
not less than 7.5 metric tonnes;
and
(b) the yams are packed in
standard cartons and the net
weight of each carton does not
exceed 25 kilogrammes.
(2) The mode of payment for any
such export shall be by
irrevocable letters of credit
only.
Regulation 3—LI 1246 amended.
The Imports and Exports (Permitted
and Prohibited Goods) Regulations,
1980 (LI 1246) is hereby amended
by the substitution for paragraph
(e) of the Third Schedule thereto
of the following new paragraph:—
"(e) Locally produced foodstuffs
to a maximum of 20 kilogrammes
except that in the case of yams to
a maximum of 3 tubers."
Regulation 4—Revocation
The Imports and Exports
(Non-Traditional Exports)
Regulations, 1980 (LI 1251) is
hereby revoked.
