  PHARMACY AND DRUGS (BANNED DRUGS) REGULATIONS, 1989 (LI 1484).

 

IN exercise of the powers conferred on the Provisional National Defence Council Secretary Responsible for Health by Section 59 of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act, 1961 (Act 64) these Regulations are made this 6th day of December, 1989.

Regulation 1—Banned Drugs.

(1) The following drugs are hereby banned:

(a) Phenylbutazone; its salts; derivatives

(b) Amidopyrine; its salts, amidopyrine sulphonates their salts,

(c) Iodochlorhydroxyquinoline; derivatives

(d)  Zomiperac Sodium

(e) Methaqualone and its salts

(f)  Secobarbital (Quinalbarbitone)

(g) All Mercury based soaps.

(2) Any person who deals in, sells or offers for sale such drugs shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding ˘100,000.00 or to imprisonment not exceeding six months or to both.

Regulation 2—Commencement.

These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of September, 1989.
