PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION INSTRUMENT,
1970 (CI 9)
WHEREAS the National Assembly, on
the 30th day of July, 1970 in
pursuance of section 1 of the
First Schedule to the Constitution
decided that the exercise by the
Presidential Commission of the
functions of President shall cease
with effect from the 7th day of
August, 1970.
AND WHEREAS subsection (4) of
section 1 of the said First
Schedule provides that an election
of the First President of the
Second Republic of Ghana shall
beheld after all the members of
the Presidential Commission have
ceased to hold office as such
members;
AND WHEREAS clause (10) of article
41 of the Constitution provides
that the Speaker of the National
Assembly shall be the presiding
officer for the election of the
President;
NOW THEREFORE in exercise of the
powers conferred on the Presiding
Officer by section 3 of the First
Schedule and article 174 (h) of
the Constitution I, ISAAC
AMISSAH-AIDOO, Deputy Speaker of
the National Assembly, hereby
appoint Monday, the 31st day of
August, 1970 to be the date, ten
o'clock in the forenoon to be the
time and Parliament House, Accra
to be the place on or at which the
election of the First President of
the Second Republic of Ghana shall
be held.
