IN exercise of the powers
conferred on the Civil Service
Council by section 92 (1) and (2)
(i) of the Civil Service Law 1993
(P.N.D.C.L. 327) and in
consultation with the Public
Services Commission and with the
approval of the President this
Instrument is made this 17th day
of September, 1996.
Section 1—Creation of Records
Administration Department.
(1) There is hereby established a
department in the Civil Service to
be known as the Public Records
Administration Department referred
to in this Instrument as "the
Records Administration
Department".
(2) The Records Administration
Department shall operate under the
Office of the Head of the Civil
Service.
Section 2—National Archives.
(1) The National Archives in
existence immediately before the
coming into force of this
Instrument which forms a part of
the Civil Service shall be a part
of the Public Records
Administration Department.
(2) There shall be appointed for
the Department a Director who
shall be the Head of the Public
Records Department and Head of the
Records Class.
Section 3—Records Class.
The Director and the other staff
and employees at the Records
Administration Department shall
constitute a class in the Civil
Services to be known as "the
Records Class".
Section 4—Records Officers in
Regions and Districts.
There shall be stationed in the
Offices of each Regional
Co-ordinating Council and District
Assembly and such other offices of
the State as the Civil Service
Council may determine, officers of
the Records Class.
Section 5—Interpretation.
In this Instrument unless the
context otherwise requires
"Department means the Public
Records Administration Department.
