REFERENDUM (DRAFT CONSTITUTION) (ELECTORAL AREAS AND SYMBOLS) INSTRUMENT, 1992 (LI 1529).

 

IN exercise of the powers conferred on the Interim National Electoral Commission by paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section 10 of the Interim National Electoral Commission Law, 1991 (P.N.D.C.L. 271) and subsection (2) of section 1 of the Referendum (Draft Constitution) Law, 1992 (P.N.D.C.L. 277) this Instrument is made this 10th day of April, 1992.

Section 1—Electoral Areas for Referendum.

For the purpose of conducting the referendum to be held on 28th April 1992, the Electoral Areas specified in the First Schedules of the Legislative Instruments establishing the District Assemblies and in force at the commencement of this Instrument shall form the electoral zones and units for the polls at the referendum.

Section 2—Symbols for Referendum.

(1) The symbol indicating an affirmative answer to the question provided in the Referendum on Draft Constitution Instrument, 1992 (E.I.8) shall be in the form set out in paragraph 1 of the Schedule to this Instrument.

(2) The symbol indicating a negative answer to the question shall be in the form set out in paragraph 2 of the Schedule.

Section 3—Display of Symbols.

The symbols indicating "YES" and "NO" shall be displayed at the head of the votes queues and inside the polling booths.

SCHEDULE

1. The word "YES" in black letters under an open book on a white background.

2. The word "No" in black letters under a closed book on a white background.
