ROAD TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1975 (LI 1031).  

 

IN exercise of the powers conferred on the Commissioner responsible for Transport by section 33 of the Road Traffic Ordinance, 1952 (No. 55), these Regulations are made this 16th day of July, 1975.

Regulation 1—Fee for Registration Form.

Immediately after paragraph (1) of regulation 2 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 1974 (L.I. 953) there is hereby inserted the following new paragraph: —

"(1A) The applicant shall pay a fee of ¢1.00 for the application form"

Regulation 2—Fee for Driving Licence Form.

Immediately after paragraph (1) of regulation 14 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 1974 (L.I. 953) there is hereby interested the following new paragraph:—

“(1A) The applicant shall pay a fee of ¢2.00 for the applicant form.”

Regulation 3—Warning Triangles and Traffic Lanterns.

(1) For regulation 44 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 1974 (L.I. 953) there is hereby substituted the following:—

"Advance Warning.

44.(1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle (other than a two-wheeled motor-cycle) on a road unless there is carried in the vehicle an advance warning triangle or a red or amber blinker traffic lantern of approved candle light.

(2) Every driver of a motor vehicle (other than a two-wheeled motor-cycle) whose vehicle is stationary on a road at night without lighted side and rear lamps or flashing hazard warning lights shall give adequate advance warning to approaching drivers of the obstacle which his vehicle constitutes by placing an advance warning triangle or a red or amber blinker traffic lantern at a suitable point both at the rear and front of the vehicle and at a distance from the vehicle sufficient to give the warning but which shall not in any case be less than 50 yards.

(3) The advance warning triangle shall consist of an equilateral triangle with sides not less than 16 inches long and a red border not less than 2 inches wide, and with its interior part either hollow or of a light colour.

(4) The red border shall be illuminated by transparency or fitted with a reflectorised stripe.

(5) The advance warning triangle shall be such that it can be stood firmly in a vertical position."

(2) This regulation shall come into force on the 1st day of August, 1975.
