1 n exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister responsible for Sports by section 42 of the Sports Act, 1976 (S.M.C.D. 54) these Regulations are made this 28th day of April, 2011.

Sports associations

Sports associations

1. (l) A person may form or join a sports association either as an amateur or as a professional.

(2) A sports association may be a national, regional or a district sports association.

Functions of sports associations

2. A national, regional or district sports association shall

(a) organise, develop and promote a sport at the level concerned, and

(b) prepare national teams for international events, competi­tions and games

in collaboration with the National Sports Authority.

Registration of sports associations

3. (1) A sports association shall apply to be registered by the National Sports Authority.

(2) A sports association may be affiliated to an international :-;ports federation or organisation.

(J) A registered sports association shall have a constitution that is in conformity with the rules of the international federation or organisation of the particular sport.

(4) The National Sports Authority shall issue guidelines for the registration of sports associations.

Membership of sports associations

4. A sports association registered with the National Sports Authority sh,111 have members that consist of persons interested in the sport.

Executive officers of sports associations

5, Each sports association shall elect the executive officers of the sports association in accordance with the constitution of the sports associa­tion.

Tenure of office of executive officers of sports associations

6. The tenure of office of an executive officer of a sports association is determined by the constitution of the sports association.

Relationship between national, regional and district sports associations 7. A national sports association of any sport may

(a) liaise with the regional or district association of that sport for the effective management of that sport, and

(b) give directives to the regional or district association of the sport in accordance with the constitution of the sports asso­ciation.

Funds of sports associations

8. The funds of a sports association registered with the National Sports

Authority include

(a) moneys approved by Parliament, (b) donations, grants and gifts,

(c) sponsorships, and

(d) any other funds that may be provided by the Minister responsible for Finance.

Accounts and audit of national sports associations

9. (1) A national sports association that receives funds approved by Parliament or provided by the Minister responsible for Finance shall keep books of accounts and proper records in relation to the funds in the form approved by the Auditor-General.

(2) The Auditor-General or an auditor authorised by the Auditor­General shall audit the books and accounts kept under subregulation (1) each year.

Rules of operations for national sports associations

10. A national sports association that is affiliated to an international

sports federation or organisation shall operate under rules consistent with

 

                 (a) statutes;

                 (b) charters;

(c) constitutions;

(d) regulations;

(e) rules; or

(f) bye-laws

of the respective international sports federation or organisation.

Ghana Olympic Committee

The Ghana Olympic Committee

11. There shall be a Ghana Olympic Committee.

Membership of the Ghana Olympic Committee

12. The membership of the Ghana Olympic Committee is as pro­vided in the constitution of the Ghana Olympic Committee.

Executive Board

13. (1) There shall be an Executive Board of the Ghana Olympic Committee which shall manage the affairs of the Ghana Olympic Com­mittee.

(2) The Executive Board consists of the members provided for in the constitution of the Ghana Olympic Committee.

Tenure of office of the Executive Board

14. The tenure of office of the members of the Executive Board is as provided in the constitution of the Ghana Olympic Committee.

Functions of the Executive Board

15. The Executive Board of the Ghana Olympic Committee shall perform the functions specified in the constitution of the Ghana Olympic Committee.

Duties and powers of officers of the Ghana Olympic COmmittee

16. The duties and powers of the officers of the Ghana Olympic Committee are as provided in the constitution of the Ghana Olympic Committee. Revocation

17. The Sports Regulations, 1976 (L.I. 1088) are hereby revoked.
