IN exercise of the powers
conferred on the President by
section 11 of the Wild Animals
Preservation Act, 1961 (Act 43),
these Regulations are hereby made
this 20th day of September, 1971.
Regulation 1—Establishment of
Reserves.
The areas of land the situations
and limits of which are specified
in the Schedule to these
Regulations are hereby established
as Reserves, and shall be
designated by the following names—
(a) Mole National Park;
(b) Digya National Park;
(c) Bui National Park;
(d) Shai Hills Game Production
Reserve;
(e) Kogyae Strict Nature Reserve;
(f) Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary.
Regulation 2—Entry to be
Authorised.
No person shall at any time —
(a) enter a Reserve except with
the consent of the Chief Game and
Wildlife Officer and subject to
such conditions as he may
determine;
(b) contravene any condition
subject to which he has been
permitted to enter a Reserve.
Regulation 3—Protection of Animal
and Plant Life.
No person shall at any time —
(a) hunt, capture or destroy any
animal or collect or destroy any
plant within a Reserve, except
with the written consent of the
Chief Game and Wildlife Officer
which shall only be given for
Conservation and Management
purposes;
(b) bring into a Reserve any
equipment or apparatus which may
be used to hunt, capture or
destroy any animal;
(c) take any animal or plant out
of a Reserve without the written
consent of the Chief Game and
Wildlife Officer.
(2) A Game Officer may seize and
confiscate any equipment or
apparatus brought into a Reserve
which is in the opinion of the
Game Officer capable of being used
to hunt, capture or destroy any
animal, and such equipment or
apparatus may be disposed of in
such manner as the Chief Game and
Wildlife Officer thinks fit.
Regulation 4—Protection of
Amenities.
No person shall at any time —
(a) light any fire within a
Reserve;
(b) pollute any water within a
Reserve;
(c) abandon any litter or unwanted
articles within a Reserve.
(d) without the written consent of
the Chief Game and Wildlife
Officer, clear or cultivate any
area within a Reserve.
Regulation 5—Offences.
Any person who contravenes any
provision of regulations 2 to 4
shall be guilty of an offence and
liable on summary conviction to a
fine not exceeding N¢200.00 or to
imprisonment not exceeding six
months or to both.
Regulation 6—Interpretation.
"Plant" includes any form of
vegetable life;
"Reserve" includes a National
Park, Game Production Reserve,
Strict Nature Reserve and Wildlife
Sanctuary.
Regulation 7—Revocation.
The Wild Animals Preservation
(Game Reserves) Regulations, 1962
(L.I. 171) are hereby revoked.

The Mole National Park lies
between latitudes 9° 12' and 10°
13' north and longitudes 1° 22'
and 2°13'. It is bounded on the
south by the main road from

miles.
